Delta 40 Silver 3 planters at staircase When we are talking about Sansevieria propagation, there is only one exception we need to mention – the yellow edge variety can be propagated by division only which means you can only get plants with green leaves by propagating from cuttings.

To propagate new Snake Plants from cuttings you need to choose a healthy leaf and cut it at the base. Place it on a board and cut transversely into sections about two inches. Then make a small V-shaped cut on the side that is near the base and insert the cutting in a pot filled with sharp sand. Dip the cuttings in the sand about an inch and leave about three inches above the sand.

Keep the pot in a warm room. Water your cuttings regularly. In about six weeks you will get new plants from each cutting. When they have 2-3 leaves take them out of the sand and carefully remove them from the old leaf. Plant each of the new leaves separately.

And yes, it is as easy as it sounds!
